The Symposium will take place on March 9-10, 2023 at the University of Maryland’s Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. This full, two day event is a forum for scientists, clinicians, junior investigators, and students from local institutions and organizations to present and exchange research that will advance traumatic brain injury (TBI) treatment and outcomes. 

The Symposium features a variety of TBI-related presentations, including a Keynote presentation from Dr. Geoff Manley, plenary presentations, poster sessions, and oral presentation breakout sessions. 

Geoffrey T. Manley, MD, PhD will present on “TRACK-TBI: A 14 Year Journey to Transform Research and Clinical Knowledge in TBI.” Dr. Manley is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, as well as Professor and Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Manley is a world-renowned Neurotrauma expert and lead principal investigator of the newly launched TRACK-TBI NETWORK. The TRACK-TBI NETWORK is a multifaceted Phase 2 TBI clinical trial network that’s comprised of 18 sites, 7 cores, and a contract research organization. Built on a decade a progress from the TRACK-TBI study, the TRACK-TBI NETWORK is strategically positioned to transition from an observational natural history study to a robust platform for TBI intervention trials.

This event is hosted by the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (CNRM). CNRM is a U.S. military TBI research program that’s organized as a partnership between the Uniformed Services University and the National Institutes of Health.

CNRM conducts clinical and translational research to improve the lives of U.S. service members who’ve sustained TBIs. Since 2008, CNRM has completed 135 studies and enrolled over 9,000 research participants.
